Four volumes. viii,616; 548; 484; 521pp. plus [156]pp. index. In beautiful full tan calf, BOUND BY RIVIERE. Stamped "Bound by Riviere," the way he signed his bindings between 1840, when he opened his London bindery, and 1860. This was probably done soon after he opened his London bindery. Borders and turn-ins gilt in delicate floral tool; Spine gilt in six compartments with very fine tooling, and two gilt-titled labels. Endpapers and edges marbled. Some faint rubbing to extremities; superficial one-inch crack to spines of volumes II and IV. Bookplates of Cambridge High and Latin School. A beautiful set of Livy's histories "ab urbe condita."
