About this Item

There are no covers, no endpapers, no title page, no publishing information, no date, and the book is missing the first 5 pages of the unnumbered Preface. The Peface should have 10 pages but only 5 pages remain. The 158 pages of the main text are complete. The blank paper in the lower half of the last preface page is signed and dated by three persons, 2 of which are legible. "Benj@ Hurd - His Book 1737; Eleazer Wheelock - his Book 1756". A 1-1/2 inch by 3 inch piece of plain paper has been overlaid on the bottom of this page's left corner with an illegible inscription. This piece of the corner has been nibbled or wormholed. The lower right corner has an inked price of 7/6.0 Penc." (? Seven shillings and sixpence - no farthings). The main text has 158 pages with some light staining and a little holing in the margins. There is a light waterstain to a number of pages. The last page is darkened. The pages measure 4-3/4 by 7-1/4 inches. The pages are generally clean, have varying amounts of foxing, are still crisp and are tightly bound. Bookseller Inventory # 11403
