About this Item

A comprehensive and scholarly history and description of the Abbey by no less an authority than the 19th century churchman Dean Stanley. Dedicated in typical flowery language to Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria. Purple cloth-covered boards with white spines. Spines are lightly darkened and spotted. Gilt on spines, front covers, and top page edges covers very bright. Black and white etchings. Those plates that are tissue-covered are heavily foxed as are pages next to them; the other illustrations are not. Light foxing on occasional pages throughout, but in general, and with exceptions noted above, pages are bright. Binding sturdy. This two-volume set may require some extra shipping and insurance fees, and to our regret, will probably not be available for international shipping because of exorbitant fees.
