A near fine clean bright copy in a generally VG pictorial dustwrapper, which is slightly rubbed and chipped on extremities of this authoritative and important work on Indian Art. The Third edition has been thoroughly revised and and enlarged without anyway interfering with Vincent Smith's opinions and beliefs. The present edition is more lavishly illustrated with many new plates - it has 190 more illustrations than the last edition. Special attention must also be drawn to the present editor's Introduction on the Art of the Indus Valley Civilization, not dealt with by Vincent Smith, and his long Notes on Indian painting and metal sculpture, dealing with many aspects of the subjects not touched upon by the original author.
