About this Item

Hardcover in blue cloth with spine lettered in gilt. 397 pp. With photographic plate. Very scarce history of the Church of the Brethren, commonly called "Dunkers" in the 19th century, in territorial and later the state of Kansas. Professor Craik wrote this history partly to preserve the first-person accounts of the early settlers of the area before they died off. It was the result of a study of the Brethren in Kansas conducted in 1915-16 and aimed to include a sketch of everey congregation that ever existed in the state. A tight, very good example, previous owner's signature and date of 1952 on front free endpaper. Bookseller Inventory # E8951
