About this Item

Providence Press Company, RI. A regimental history of this unit, mustered into service in October of 1862. The regiment left for Washington, establishing camp at Miner's Hill, and was involved in the Capital's defenses. In 1863 the 11th Rhode Island Infantry was send to Suffolk, VA where it helped in building fortifications and was involved in the siege of Suffolk. The regiment was mustered out of service in July, 1863. Nevins says this regimental is long on personal incidents and one of the better sources for 1862-63 campaigning around Washington and Norfolk, Virginia. Very good copy of the first edition. No dust jacket. A little wear to the bottom on the front cover. Bright gilded anchor and shield design on the front cover. Rare regimental. 217 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 5166
