First edition. Hardcover in navy blue cloth stamped in gilt. xv+286 pp. with appendix roster. Color frontispiece of the 102nd Cavalry reimental coat of arms; illustrated with photographic plates and line drawings. With a foreword by Major General James G. Harbord. Unit history of New Jersey National Guard's 102nd Cavalry, the "Essex Troop", organized in 1890 in Newark. Th unit volunteered for servicein the Spanish-American War but was not called up; it trained at Sea Girt in the first decade of the 20th century, saw service on the Meican Border in 1916 and was shipped to France during World War I.
