London, 1872-1881. Quarto, half red crushed morocco over cloth, top edges gilt. Finely bound by the Atelier Bindery for Charles Scribner's Sons. A bright, near fine set, very well preserved. Some normal tanning to pages, bookplate residue - in most cases quite faint - to front pastedowns, scratch to spine of Vol. IV, some light normal shelfwear. This appears to be a subscriber's edition. A very nice set of Guizot's complete work in translation. The great statesman's final work. The last volumes were written by Madame Guizot de Witt from her father's notes. Bookseller Inventory #
