24 cm, 355, illus., boards somewhat worn, somewhat shaken. This biography of Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the founder of the Mormon Church, was dictated by his mother to a friend the year following Smith's murder in Carthage, IL. First published in Liverpool in 1853 under the title "Biographical sketches of Joseph Smith, the prophet, and his progenitors for many generations, " it was finally published in book form in the United states in 1901. This edition includes"Introduction to first Utah edition" dated: Salt Lake City, October 8, 1901. Copies of this 1945 edition are exceedingly scarce. Bookseller Inventory # 36358
