First edition. Hardcover in red pebbled cloth stamped in gilt. All edges gilt. 293 pp. Very scarce history of the 12th New Jersey Volunteer Regiment, Company F (on eof the ten companies that comprised the 12th NJ). The company was made up of men from or near the south Jersey county of Gloucester, from towns such as Moorestown, Mullica Hill, Millville, Paulsboro, Woodbury, Swedesboro, etc. The company was established in Juy, 1862 and saw major action at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, etc. In addition to accounts of the company's actions at these and other places, this work mincludes first hand reports from various other Civil War encampments and skirmishes in the form of reproduced letters from its members.
