About this Item

Books are bound in red cloth-covered boards with gilt title on the spine, rough cut pages, TEG. Defects to note are cracked front hinges that are holding firm, sunned spine, with modest edge wear and small bumps at corners. Frontis in both volumes is of Mr. H. F. Meynell Ingram with tissue guard in place. There are numerous other photogravures of persons involved with fox-hunting all with tissue guard in place. Includes a photogravure of Hugo Meynell (The Father of Fox Hunting). There are 4 maps showing various Fox Hunting Runs including one featuring Places Of Meeting of the Hoar Cross Hunt all in Volume I. In Volume II there are again many photogravures of noted people with tissue guard in place and a fold-out map Illustrating Three Runs with the Peak Fox. A rare set of books with a history of fox hunting, dog development and the country side in England where hunts were conducted. Volume I has 397 pages and Volume II has 428 pages including the Index.
