About this Item

MARTIN, Francois-Xavier. The History of North-Carolina From The Earliest Period. New Orleans, 1829. Two Volumes. (12),326,(2),(114);(iv),412pp. Old library stamps on title pages, else a very good set in new antique style calf-backed boards. Howes M333. Jumonville 671, 672. American Imprints 39436. An important early history, the first devoted entirely to the state, by the prolific lawyer-historian Martin. The set seems to be quite scarce; Jumonville locates five copies only. This was issued the same year as the author's history of Louisiana. Books from this priod in such original condition are most unusual. Bookseller Inventory # 27535
