The History of Old Alexandria, Virginia/ from July 13, 1749 to May 24, 1861
Navy blue cloth boards have gilt lettering and emblem on front cover, faded gilt lettering on the spine. Extremities are rubbed, corners and lower extremities moreso. Covers are rubbed and slightly foxed, cloth is bubbled in some places, and there are a few spots on the front cover. Spine is faded, bumped and rubbed at head and foot. Former owner's bookplate appears in the top left corner of the front pastedown. Inscription on the front free endp. as follows, "To Gardner L. Boothe/ Mary G. Powell/ March 1928." Water stain in the bottom half of the gutter throughout the text, lighter towards the back. Two page typed letter by the author, dated April 23, 1928, concerning family and local history, laid in.
