About this Item

[WITH HIS;] The History of The New Testament, Representing the Actions and Miracles Of Our Blessed Saviour And His Apostles.with CLII Sculptures. London, Cha. Harper, 1701. Three volumes, octavos, original calf gilt, joints cracked, spine ends chipped, a lovely set complete with all engraved titles (which vary slightly in wording from the printed titles, as is usual), and with the frontispieces and all the engravings by J. Sturt in brilliant impressions. Wesley completed the New Testament several years prior to completing the volumes on the Old Testament, thus the difference in publication dates. It was not until 1715 that the publishers decided to publish both Old and New Testament volumes as a set. It is most unusual now to find an Old Testament and New Testament both in first editions, and clearly bound at the time of original purchase in a matching set such as this one. First editions of all volumes, and very rare. Because of the value of this item, extra postal insurance or registry fees may be required. Bookseller Inventory # 1068
