About this Item

College Press, 1904. "With a short Historical sketch of the Preceding One Hundred and Fifty Years of Catholocity in the Capital of Maryland. Illustrated. Hard cover, 253 pp. No other printings listed. Acceptable/ NO dust jacket. Green cloth covered boards with gold lettering on front and spine. Light nicking and fraying to edges, corners and top and bottom of spine with a bit of the underlying boards exposed at the corner tips. Light overall scuffing and spotting to covers as well. Spine has a thin crack in the middle of the text block but binding is still tight. Previous owner's dedication on front free end paper and name and date on front paste down. Otherwise pages are yellowed with age but unmarked with occasional light spotting and soiling and heavier spotting on rear endpapers. NOT Ex-library. A solid reading copy. [From page after Dedication Page]. In April, 1903, was solemnly celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the Redemptorists' settlement in Annapolis. It was then that they came into possession of the time-honored Mansion belonging to the last surviving Signer of tlie Declaration of Independence, the venerable Charies Carroll of Carrollton. The history of these fifty years is replete with interest to the general public, but particularly to the Catholics of Annapolis and the friends of the Redemptorist Fathers throughout the country. Besides the religious and domestic history of the Redemptorist Community at Annapolis and their various missionary labors, the gradual development of Catholicity in the Capital of Maryland is treated in this work. At the end of the work the reader will find, also, short biographical sketches of the deceased Superiors of the Community and all who closed their earthly career in the sacred precincts of St. Mary?s Redemptorist convent.
