8 divisions, divided into 2 volumes, are published in 8 separate books in this edition. Some editions were issued in only 2 books. The title page of Vol. I is bound into the back of Division 8 with a list of contents and illustrations, Vol. I, 4 divisions, 776 pages (xxxvi Remsarks on the Scenery of the Highland by Wilson); Vol. II, 4 divisions, 818 pages (xii). The set includes 30 color clan-tartan plates, some with tissue guards; a 2-page color map of clans, views, maps, portraits engraved on steel, and approximately 200 woodcuts including armorial bearings. Red textrued boards/black designs, 4to. The work is based on Browne's History of the Highlands and Clans with extensive additions and alterations. Divisions are in fair to poor condition with water stains on a few pages and on a few tartans and engravings, some loose pages, inner hinges repaired with clear tape, spine missing Division 6, spines dull, pieces missing, cover wear. The contents are clean and unmarked. With packing the set will weigh over 20 pounds. Bookseller Inventory # 025042
