Henry Fielding (1707-1754) has been credited with co-founding the first police force in London. His "Tom Jones" is a comedy, telling the life story of the lusty Englishman. This work, first published in 1749, was one of the first English-language novels. In an early Folio Society edition in dust jacket (not a slipcase).
