The unit was initially sent to Baltimore in 1862, then Harper's Ferry in 1862. They were again activated in response to the Confederate offensive in 1863. They in the puruit of Lee following Gettysburg and then helped put down the NYC Draft Riots, before being deactivated. Over 340 pages deals with the Civil War. Good copy of the first edition. Strong binding and hinges. Cover has some soiling, along top edge of board has 1/4 inch red mark. No dust jacket. 762 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 26560
