Book Description Susan B Anthony, Rochester, NY, 1889. Large 8vo, Vol. I is the second edition. Complete with 12 engravings; Vol. II is the first edition, complete with 12 engravings; Vol. III has the extensive index to volumes 1-3 and is complete with 22 engravings; Vol IV is in very good condition as well. Bound in publisher's cloth, hinges loose and some external wear, especially along the hinges in which much of the cloth is worn, a good set, very clean internally. Two more volumes were issued (1920,1922). Each volume contains a presentation from the National American Woman Suffrage Assoc. The official, in-depth, history that reprints letters, speeches, petitions, and all the rest. This is an extraordinary history that shows the organizer's penchant for detail and recognition that a complete history of the movement was not only desirable but essential. There are numerous internal documents, letters to conventions, speeches and the like that were not reprinted elsewhere. What makes this set frustrating is that most volumes were donated to libraries and have seen years of use and abuse. Bookseller Inventory # 39804
