Copyright page: ".on the second day of July, in the thirty-sixth year of Independence of the United States of America Noah Webster, jun.hath depositied in this office the title of a book, the right whereof he claims as author, in the following words." 12mo. 247, [1 (blank)] pp. Sabin 102350; Shaw & Shoemaker 27502. Full leather, spine stamped in gilt on a red leather label and stamped with gilt rules; spine also bears a paper shelving label. Binding rubbed, front cover detached. Front leaf missing. Foxed, title-page browned. A few marginal tears and two-inch tears to page 83?88 impinging upon but not affecting legibility of text. Pages 243 to rear (blank) page loosening. Previous owner's inscription at top of copyright page and on front pastedown, bookplate on front pastedown. Bookseller Inventory # 7196
