Maroon cloth made to look like leather with raised gilt letters on the front cover, with gilt letters on the spine, and with a raised vignette in gilt of a ox pulling a wagon with a sunburst in the background. No noticeable wear to extremities, covers clean and bright, gilt bright (!!), all photos in fine condition, else fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket, probably as issued. Title page has "Volume Two" beneath the title "Pioneer Tales", but it is not clear what this means, as I have not been able to find any information about a Volume One. Located in the northwestern part of Minnesota, Pennington County had a population of 13,992 according to the 2020 census. The county seat is Thief River Falls The county was named for Edmund Pennington (1848-1926), a longtime Minnesota railroad executive, who was serving as president of the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Sault Ste. Marie Railway when the county was formed. With 164p. of family histories, this book is a gold mine of genealogical information, as well as the history of Pennington County, Minnesota. .
