8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Hobbit or There and Back Again, by J.R.R. Tolkien. A beautiful copy of the Allen & Unwin De Luxe Edition of The Hobbit. This copy is the 3rd impression, published in 1984, of the 1st De Luxe Edition of 1976, with the Tolkien line drawings colorized by H. E. Riddett. This book is also housed in it's original publishers box with label. The label is only lightly soiled, no scuffs or damage. One light bump to the corner edge of the box, did not effect the book, a Very Good Plus/Near Fine condition book and box. Bound in black buckram cloth, with gilt artwork on the front boards of Tolkien's 'Green Dragon" gilt stamped in red, silver & gold. Gilt ruled compartments with Title, Author, and publisher on the spines. A very nice Very Good Plus copy for the collector. Neat Gift Inscription to first blank page, no other writing or faults noted in the book. Maps are bound in, rather than used as the endpapers. The case has done its job and protected the book very well over the years. Overall a Very Good Plus copy of this wonderful book, housed in it's original publishers box, the only faults noted a couple of damp spots to the rear boards of the book, none to the front cover. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, Limited Editions, and odd bits of ephemera are available. Very Good Plus / No Jacket, as Issued. Seller Inventory # 2736
