About this Item

Single quarto sheet of yellow stock printed in black. Features an illustration of one of Warhol's cherubic, angel-like figures suspended from an ornamental canopy with an owl perched on it. This holiday sentiment is reproduced in Warhol's stylized calligraphy: "Happy Everything and a Joyous New Year Fritzie and Max Miller." Warhol's printed signature appears to the right of the image. Warhol created this card especially for his friends Fritzie and Max Miller. Fritzie Miller was an agent for commercial artists, and was Warhol's agent during the 1950's. According to Warhol's biographer, Victor Bockris, "Fritzie Miller's help in getting his work into McCall's and the Ladies' Home Journal and later into Vogue and Harper's Bazaar was essential in establishing Warhol as the most sought-after illustrator of women's accessories in New York." Near fine. Nicely matted and framed. Rare and early---to the best of our knowledge the only known copy. Not even the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh has a copy. Bookseller Inventory # SKB-15422
