About the Author:

Bob Gormus was born in Buckingham County, VA in 1941 where he was reared by his maternal grandparents until he was school age. He then moved to Richmond, VA to live with his parents and two brothers. He attended Richmond Public Schools, graduating in 1960. He attended the University of Richmond graduating with honors with a BS in Chemistry in 1964. He attended Duke University in Durham, NC and received a PhD in Biochemistry in 1971. Dr. Gormus was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology at the UNiversity of Florida Health Science Center in Gainesville, FL until 1974 where he learned the field of Immunology. He was hired as a Research Immunologist at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Minneapoles, MN in 1974 where he studied leukemias and lymphomas. Thereafter, he took the position of Research Scientist at the Tulane University Regional Primate Research Center in Covington, LA in 1979 where he has remained until the present.
