Description:

Brown leather boards have four bands with gilt rules and gilt lettering on the spine. Covers are rubbed, scuffed, scratched and have a few dents. Extremities have gilt details and are rubbed, lower extremities moreso. Corners bumped and worn. Spine is badly creased and/or rubbed, two letters are missing from label. This volume has been recased, new cloth under original leather to reinforce spine, original brown-hued marbled endpp. retained, professionally taped in. Prelims and text are heavily foxed, though not interfering with legibility. Last few leaves of idex are badly chipped along leading edge, some closed tears have been mended with acid-free tape.
