About this Item

16 photos (generally 14 x 9cm. or slightly smaller) pasted down in a small homemade album made of sheets of stiff black paper and tied on the left side with a piece of braided red cord. Amateur photos with decent but not great detail. The pictured home belonged to Dr. W. E. Beatty; the next three photos are of "Steve" Beatty, Helen Beatty, and Helen Beatty mounted on a horse. The fifth photo (captioned "Hubby" and my dog "Jennie") is of a man in nautical dress whites who is seated on the front steps of the house and holding a small dog. The next five uncaptioned photos are of a woman, presumably the compiler, on board a good-sized ship of some kind. We think it is likely that the compiler and her "hubby" were visiting the Beatty's at the Beatty home in Haiti. The last six photos, also uncaptioned, may have been taken at a cemetery somewhere in the United States -- two pictured graves are of a person named Gibson who died in 1899 and another is of someone who appears to have served in the Civil War.
