About this title

San Antonio policewoman, Rachael Grant is shot in the leg and returns home to Saddle Gap, Texas to recuperate and rest. When her grandfather sells his guest ranch that is at the heart of the town, violent murders begin to occur and Rachael is drawn into the investigation. She also becomes the subject of much town gossip when she becomes romantically involved with an old friend. In a town full of ex-husbands, ex-lovers, and ex-cons, everyone is suspect and everyone is fair game.

About the Author:

For most of her life, Carolyn Rogers had no idea that deep within her a writer struggled to surface. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, was an average student though one who always seemed to do especially well whenever book reports were required. Otherwise, writing was confined to the occasional letter to a friend who had moved--though most of the letters ended up twenty or more pages long. She has always been a voracious reader thanks to her dad and two older sisters, who would pass books they enjoyed down to her. Those were hand-me-downs she never minded getting. Mystery was one of their favorite genres, and so became hers. To this day she, her sisters and dad still exchange books, though now it is Carolyn who does most of the picking out and sharing of favorites.

A love for books eventually led to a curiosity about writing, but it wasn't until she got her first computer and discovered a writing board on Prodigy that a true writing bug hit. "I was hooked. It was downhill from there,"; she says. Or rather, uphill. The next five years were spent learning the craft of writing. "I read everything I could get my hands on about writing. Attended dozens of workshops, attended conferences, tried a few critique groups, met and learned from other writers and published authors. I soaked up everythign I could."; And wrote. Lots and lots. Thousands upon thousands of words, not just in mystery but in romance and horror, too.

Eventually the idea for HOME IS WHERE THE MURDER IS, Carolyn's first mystery, was born. Many months and rewrites later, she sold it to Silver Dagger Mysteries. HOME will be available February of 2002. She is currently working on the second story in the series which involves, of all things in Texas, a moose.

Carolyn lives in Fort Worth with her husband of some fifteen years or so, their two children, two English Springer Spaniels and a leopard gecko. Visit her website at for more about Carolyn and her books.
