About this title

Synopsis:

When a notorious big city art dealer is found dead at a local inn, vacationing San Francisco reporter Rigel Lynx is asked to help the county sheriff determine how the fatal accident occurred, and he soon is embroiled in the town's dark secrets

From the Inside Flap:

Rigel Lynx has launched himself into another journalistic adventure. But this time he's not prowling the corridors of power, exposing corruption. Now he's tramping California's wild north coast, hunting magnificent steelhead trout -- and dodging killers so cunning they hide in plain sight.

The coastal town of Pomo Bluff seems worlds away from Rigel's native San Francisco, until a notorious big city art dealer is found dead at a local inn. While helping to discover how the fatal accident occurred, Rigel finds himself increasingly drawn to Sarah, the inn's enigmatic innkeeper.

When he moves into the dead man's room at the inn, Rigel dicovers that the supposedly solitary guest was in fact visited by a beautiful redhead in the hours before his death. Rigel also learns that Pomo Bluff harbors dark secrets, including a tall, gaunt figure that stalks the highway at the edge of town.

Knowing he must produce a story, Rigel goes to the banks of the storm- swollen Pomo River each morning to teach himself the rudiments of flyfishing. Soon he is matching wits with ocean-going rainbow trout: daunting adversaries that defy all but the most determined fisherman.

Rigel also continues investigating the mysterious death at the inn. Ultimately he uncovers a plot of revenge so cold-blooded that it unites bitter enemies -- who will stop at nothing to conceal their crime. Suddenly the hunter becomes the hunted, and Rigel Lynx learns that homo sapiens can be the most dangerous adversary of all.
