About the Bookseller

Our shop is located on two floors of a quiet, comfortable Victorian house on the edge of the University of Pennsylvania campus. The large stock of general and scholarly books is divided between new and used, and is well-organized and categorized. Only a small fraction of our inventory is currently online. The categories listed below were created by AbeBooks from our listings but are not entirely accurate or complete.

Shipping Terms

Book orders are generally shipped the same or the next day, except for weekends or holidays when the Post Office is closed. Books are generally enclosed in cardboard or bubble wrap and shipped in heavy padded envelopes for Media or First Class Mail, or in Postal Service flat-rate padded envelopes for Priority Mail. Every effort is made to ensure that books arrive in pristine condition. Domestic Shipping: Media Mail is $3.95 for the first book, $1.95 for each additional book. Priority Mail is $6.75 for each book, if the book can fit into a Postal Service flat-rate envelope; otherwise there may be an extra shipping charge. All domestic shipments include Delivery Confirmation. International Shipping: Both First Class and Priority Mail ship by air. First Class has a 4-lb weight limit, so that books that weigh more must be sent by Priority Mail. Priority Mail rates are for a standard-size book that can fit into a Postal Service flat-rate envelope. Books that are too large or heavy can still be shipped by Priority Mail, but the rates are much higher so that an extra shipping charge will be required. Shipping rates are based on packages that weigh 2.2 lb or 2 kg. For large, heavy books that will cost much more to ship than the listed rates, we may ask ABE to send you an email requesting an extra shipping charge. Please respond to the request as soon as possible, whether you want to accept or reject the extra charge. If you have any questions about the cost of shipping a particular book, please send us an email through AbeBooks.
