My dear Mr. Folger(?), If you can do anything to forward a little bill to amend the charter of the Lamaritan Home for the aged - a measure of small relief to a wholly unsectarian charity - which has been three times read in the Assembly, you would do a great kindness to those who have nothing to return but gratitude. Don't think that your brave battle against the Broadway(?) iniquity is unheeded. Yours always, most truly, George William Curtis.' First edition (first printing).
