About this title

Synopsis:

The activities described and pictured in this book have been developed by Anne Rogovin over a quarter of a century devoted to teaching normal and handicapped children. Her love of and devotion to children shine through everything she does and every book she writes, as will be attested to by those who have read her previous books. She has a special talent for designing creative teaching techniques that can be made from inexpensive and readily available materials. The ones she has designed and made are appealing to children and hold their attention effectively while allowing an array of skills to develop. The activities serve as challenges to develop and reinforce particular skills and understandings. The learnings that are described are known to be important to children's progress along a continuum of growth and learning from early to later abilities. Each of the 88 materials presented her have been "assigned" to a primary area of development and an approximate level of difficulty. It is expected that the child who uses that activity will grow in skill, competence, and personal confidence in that area of development at about that level. The result is that children are quite enjoyably guided through developmental stages at their own individual pace with interesting, active, self-learning materials.
