Original reptile-skin patterned boards, oblong quarto ( 8.75 x 15 inches), 20 leaves printed on rectos only. 9 large group photographs, several portrait photos of SP executives. Laid in loose are 1 5.5 x 9.5-inch cyanotype photo print of a locomotive works and 1 vintage 6 x 8.5-inch silver print photograph of a coal-fired locomotive and crew. Also laid in is a typed letter dated San Francisco, July 3, 1929, signed J. N. Clark to Mr. O. B. Schoenky presenting this album. Dated ink stamp recording receipt of Southern Pacific Co., Los Angeles, Cal. July 5, 1929 at top of sheet. Both sender and recipient are pictured in the management portraits portion of the album. Founded in 1865, 1929 was Southern Pacific's heyday, with 13,848 miles of their own track. A fine piece of railroading history. Rubbed and retouched area at center of rear board, else fine. We had our open bookshop in the town of Sonoma for a total of 17 years, including 9 years at our East Napa St. location, however, as of April 13, 2013 we have closed our doors. Our business is now conducted online, by appointment, and at the approximately 8 antiquarian bookfairs at which we exhibit annually. Chanticleer Books is a sole-proprietorship owned and operated by Steve Blackmer, a full-time bookseller since 1985 and member of the Antiquarian Booksellers¿ Association of America (ABAA) since 1998.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. US orders are shipped BY Priority Mail, Media Mail, OR UPS ($5-$12 on most single title orders).
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: Foreign orders are shipped at cost. International surface mail is not offered by the US Postal Service; all orders are shipped by air. We utilize the $30.00 Priority Mail International flat-rate mailer (4 lbs maximum weight) when we can adequately protect the book within. Oversize books will in most cases cost a minimum of $50.00 to ship overseas. The ABE default shipping rates are based on orders for 1 book at a maximum weight of 2.2 pounds. In many cases (large books, sets, insurance) this does not reflect the actual shipping cost. We will request additional shipping compensation through the Abebooks system when necessary.
