A near-fine copy in green cloth with black spine lettering and featuring a map of Southern Italy on the pastedowns, with slight offsetting to the front and rear endpapers and slight spotting to the top edge block. The dustwrapper is near-fine with slight wear at the spine ends. Gissing was a late-Victorian British writer who wrote such novels as New Grub Street and The Odd Women.
