About this Item

SIGNED BY AYE on the first blank as follows: "To the Stewarts / a wonderful family / & / wonderful friends / Lil." 8vo. (24 cm.) 190p. Dark maroon (black?) cloth with gilt letters on the spine. Taped to the front free endpaper in is a printed card with Lillian Aye's image on the front panel (a version of the front panel of the dust jacket on the book) for Christmas and New Year's with the printed names "Lillian and Walter Aye". Very minor wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, cloth clean, gilt very slightly dulled, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket is tattered but most all there. This is an account of the experiences of Lillian Aye during two years with the American Red Cross in the Middle East during World War II. The title derives from the fact that the two women traveled in a caboose via Trans-Iranian Railroad in their work. Lillian Aye was born in Tacoma, Washington. Bookseller Inventory # 006582
