About this Item

First Edition. 8vo, publisher’s original blue cloth binding, letters and borders in navy blue on upper cover. 10 pp. A fine and handsome copy, the blue binding remains in its original form, the corners retain their crispness, text block is clean and fresh. FIRST EDITION. Thomas Hardy is said to have declared Edna St. Vincent Millay’s poetry to be one of only two great things in the United States. Her poetry is undoubtedly one of the high points of her career. It was poetry that won her the Pulitzer Prize in 1923. This poem, "THERE ARE NO ISLANDS ANYMORE," is a work whose proceeds were all donated to the war effort, a selfless act both on the authour’s and also the publisher’s part.
