About this Item

The London Academy said of this work, "This book is truly fascinating reading . . . To everything Mr. Bullen brings enthusiasm, a passion for accuracy, and the good writing that comes of knowledge and sincerity." Pretty good praise for this First Mate Bullen who is perhaps better known for his whaling classic, "The Cruise of the Cachelot." This reviewer -- many years ago -- was in the pretty town of Dunedin, New Zealand, when he first learned of Frank Bullen. The author was most highly recommended by a book-dealer in that town; he sold me a copy of Cachelot, which I have never forgotten. This book ranks a very close second. It is in excellent condition and is protected with an acetate covering. A wonderful gift. Bookseller Inventory # 002037
