2 volumes: 314, 302, [4] p.; 14 cm. Contemporary tree calf with six spine compartments between double gilt rules; black leather labels in second compartments with gilt-tooled title: "Homer's Iliad." Imprint includes: New York: M. and W. Ward; Fry and Kammerer, printers. Former owner's name on both front free endpapers: H.G. Thomas. Back free endpapers of vol. 1 have inscription: "Issablla Vansyckle her Book," probably for Isabella Vansyckle. Early American Imprints, 2nd Ser. (Shaw & Shoemaker), 25676. This early 19th-century Baltimore edition of the Iliad is very scarce. In Fair Condition: both front boards and front free endpaper of vol. 2 are detached but present; lacking frontispiece and added engraved title page; edges rubbed; minor loss at ends of spines; occasional light foxing.
