Selection of 17 colors based on traditional colors of Japan to be used for the Imperial Festival in Spring 1959, incorporating modern ideas of eye appeal and meant to used for clothing, decoration, painting and printing of various commemorable occasions. The colors are arranged in three groups of small color chips which are glued vertically to the heavy stock paper, protected by tissue guards, and are meant as a guide for color coordination for this event. Seven basic IF colors are placed in the middle are selected to express the nation's rejoicing, primarily to be used for clothing, with two groups of five each to the left and right of the IF colors. The vivid colors to the left symbolize the nation's payer for the happiness and peace of both, the Crown Prince and Princess. Deep tone colors on the right of the IF colors are meant for activities including the international community. Text in Japanese and English. Wraps some light staining and discoloration along edges.
