First American edition of the 1902 Colette novel written with extreme sensitivity to the thoughts and feelings of a woman under Madame Claudine’s wavering circumstances. Cosgrave has sprinkled the novel with his lively sketches. Masterful interpretations ensuring fluent accuracy from its original French form by Frederick Blossom. The book is in Very Good condition with some light staining and tiny chips and a closed tear to the spine of the dust jacket that is not price-clipped. Spine is darkened and there is a small stain on front free leaf page. A sound copy that is tightly bound, with clean pages. A rare collector's item. Size: 5¾" x 7¾" 0.0. Bookseller Inventory # 267515
