About this Item

Very scarce, short-lived monthly periodical showcasing the early days of Bohemian life in Greenwich Village. 28 page illustrated journal dated October, 1916. One color illustration - a small poster advertising the "Rogues' Ball." The first issue appeared in August of 1916. This was the second issue as none appeared in September. A wonderful historical resource for Greenwich Village with information on artists, writers, artisans, restaurants, bookstores, musicians, theaters, and so on. Peter Newton, the editor, describes the Village as ushering in "a new phase in American life," where the residents "show less of that sordidness and mad desire for money so prevalent throughout the land." Some creases and small tears. Split along stapled edge. Age-toning and light stains. Good- condition. Bookseller Inventory # 000083
