Title: Inscribed Photograph of Etta Moten.
10" x 8" image showing Moten in a half profile from the chest up. Mild edge use and soiling, but overall near fine condition. The inscription reads "For J. Willis Sayre, Gratefully, Etta Moten. "Bess" Porgy & Bess." The recipient was the longtime performing arts critic for the Seattle Times newspaper. Moten was a pioneering black singer and actress. She was considered the first to have broken the customary Hollywood stereotype of black women in film, capable of playing more than the role of maid. The reverse of the photo features the stamp of Bruno of Hollywood. Bookseller Inventory # 10127
