Nicknamed "Mr. Armor," this U.S. Army officer commanded the Second Armored Division in Europe during World War Two, his troops being the first to reach and cross the Elbe River in Germany; during the Korean War he commanded the X Corps; later he was the commander of all U.S. Army forces in the Pacific. IPS, 8" X 10", n.p., n.y. [ca. late 1950s]. Fine. Outstanding U.S. Army issue half-length portrait of the general seated at a desk in full uniform, numerous flags hanging behind him, gazing sternly to the side. On the blank lower margin, he inscribes and signs large and bold in black ink: "To Gerald L. Arnholt / with best wishes / I.D. White / General US Army."
