Inscribed portrait photograph (5 x 7 inch) b/w, dated November 1937. Otto Staeren (b.1907) was an Austrian baritone singer who performed with the Vienna Folks Opera. He later emigrated to Montreal, Canada and served as a longtime cantor at the Jewish Temple Emann-El in that city. He also served with the U.S. military during WWII. The photograph is inscribed to a Trude Herzog and is in the German language, beginning "for pleasant memories . " a note on the back of the photograph [also in german] appears to describe the circumstances in which the inscription was written. Fine clean copy. Bookseller Inventory # 11624
