Synopsis

Diese Arbeit beschreibt ein Intermodulkommunikationsinterface f�r Multi-FPGA- Systeme. Die Implementierung dieses Konzepts wird im Zusammenhang mit dem Teilprojekt C1 des Sonderforschungsbereichs 622 zur Hochleistungsdatenverarbeitung genutzt. Die Forschung an der Technischen Universit�t Ilmenau setzt zu diesem Zweck verteilte FPGA-Plattformen ein, die rekon?gurierbare Systeme und System-on-Chip Architekturen erm�glichen. Das Konzept ist auf die Hardware des GECKO3-Projekts zugeschnitten. Dabei werden mehrere Gecko3main-Module als Kommunikationspartner genutzt. Das Interface realisiert verteilten gemeinsamen Speicher als Kommunikationsbasis f�r verteilte oder partitionierte Anwendungen. Die Anwendungsteile haben die M�glichkeit, �ber globale Variablen, miteinander zu interagieren. Durch parallele Datenverarbeitung sind hohe �bertragungsraten bei der Kommunikation m�glich. Die Funktionsbeschreibung in VHDL erm�glicht die ressourcensparende Implementierung. Die VHDL-Komponente ist �ber Parameter in ihrer Datenbreite und Adressbreite einstellbar. Der modulare Aufbau der Komponente erlaubt den Austausch von Funktionen oder Funktionsgruppen.
