About this title

Synopsis:

This is an account of attempts by the UN Secretariat to settle the Cyprus problem between 1999 and April 2004, based on the author's personal knowledge acquired through involvement as an adviser to the government of Cyprus during those and earlier negotiations under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. It portrays events as they were perceived by one close to Greek Cypriot participants, deals with developments since early 2004, and while not giving a full negotiating history, presents the actions of the parties concerned.

About the Author:

Claire Palley is former UK representative to the UN Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities (1988-1998) and former Constitutional Consultant to the President of Cyprus (1980-2004).
