About this title

Synopsis:

In this book, the author elucidates the universalism and inclusiveness of Islam, and commonality with other great revelations, primarily Abrahamic Traditions. He argues that the fault lines that divide people in today’s world are based primarily on fear-based material pursuits and erosion of unifying spiritual principles, and not on differences in faith. The author also clarifies the difference between lofty ideals of Islam and lives of Muslims who, like their counterparts in other faiths, often fall far short of those teachings —an erroneous point of departure for many critics of Islam. Relying exclusively on the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet, the author explains Islam’s universal message in a language that even those not previously exposed to it can understand.

About the Author:

Dr. Osman Sheikh Ahmed, an economist who lives in Washington DC, combines solid grounding in the professional/intellectual world with full grasp of the rich tradition of Islamic spirituality and teachings, gained through study of the Quran.. Dr. Ahmed received PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program of Harvard Business School. He is presently with the World Bank where he works with developing countries to achieve economic growth and poverty reduction
