Book Description Little, Brown and Company, Boston, 1899. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Illustrated By Katharine Pyle (illustrator). First Edition. 1899 publication date matches copyright date; presumed first edition. Some rub and darkening to spine, but front board illustration of five stylized red poppies growing in foreground (with mirror-like lake behind) remains better than good. Modest rub to corners and a 3/4 X 1-1/4-inch spot to top edge where topstain has faded. NO sign of water damage. Book is square and tight; no problems with hinges. PON ("H.J. Parsons") inside front board in a period-appropriate script. Glossy frontispiece and three internal illustrations remain firmly in place; tissue still in place over frontispiece. 207 pp. followed by three illustrated pages of ads for additional children's books, and a page of ads (not illustrated) for the works of Louisa M. Alcott. Three small ink spots to back board. Not pristine, call this book "very-good-minus," but a handsome survivor. Reduced from $18. Seller Inventory # 001202
