About this Item

1960, vi, 313pp. VG in G+ lightly chipped and rubbed dj. Giles wrote historical novels about her adopted state, Kentucky, but she also wrote about the early history of her home state, Arkansas, and the Oklahoma Territory. Fictional characters from her Kentucky novels, or descendants of those characters, often carry over into her novels about the west. This novel tells the story of the first white settlement in Oklahoma Territory and features the character, Johnny Osage, who is the son of Hannah Fowler, a character in her Kentucky novels. He is so-called because of his close friendship with and admiration of the Osage Indians. Bookseller Inventory # 12314
