About this title

Synopsis:

A portfolio of bird photographs, bird watercolors and bird wood carvings, with autobiographical comments on forty years of watching birds and their behaviors. The status of many bird specie populations are outlined. An encouragement to those becoming a bird watcher.

About the Author:

Jack Curran worked as an information specialist for the State of Nebraska conservation agency. As a teenager, he developed a keen interest in birds. Majoring in the BFA program at the University of Nebraska, he took photography classses and photographed historical art works for the University collection. After 20 years with Nebraska's conservation publication, he began to sculpt birds in wood and clay. After moving to Arkansas, Curran had many birds nesting on his property, including Red-shouldered Hawks. Purchasing digital equipment, he began photographing the birds on his property and those in Florida, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. Curran's commentary in the book is the result of his many experiences over the years.
