Synopsis: Join in this adventure of how a short, shy, retired farmer named Jake finally decides to pursue the new lady in town, who is a head taller, not shy, and waiting for a chance to end her 'old maid' status.

It is a story of friendships, saloons, meddling gossips, orphaned children, and two mean, nasty brothers.

Through all this, will Jake and Nell's love survive? Come to Boone County, Nebraska and find out.

From the Author: In one of my short stories, the character of Jake Blackburn started out as a joke and amusement among the towns people. It was his short stature that got this story going––but Jake just would not let me go. Thus a short story about Jake's friends became a long story about Jake because Jake's mishaps and bungling ways made him more interesting to me than any other character I have ever created on paper.
